Many answers about the campus's response to the coronavirus can be found in our special section.
Research in the Macoska Laboratory is currently focused on:
- Defining the mechanisms through which dysfunctional interactions between cell types within the tissue microenvironment develop, and how these dysfunctional interactions contribute to pathobiology;
- Elucidating the intracellular mechanisms through which inflammatory cytokines stimulate cellular proliferation and myofibroblast phenoconversion;
- Determining the molecular mechanisms coupled to prostate and renal cancer progression;
- Understanding how the intersection of lifestyle and genetic predisposition contributes to health disparities in diverse populations, and
- Translating laboratory-based knowledge to the development of clinically efficacious biomarkers and therapeutics.
